Story
I'm Mark Wickham and will be driving a pink tractor from Littleborough to Whitby on Sunday (23 March) while dressed as Superman in aid of breast cancer charities.
I've painted my grey 1952 Massey Ferguson tractor and trailer pink, the colour associated with Breast Cancer for the journey.
I just want to do something to raise awareness of cancer and wanted to do something that everyone could get involved with. The Superman thing is just the fun side of the plan really.
The journey to Whitby will begin at 0500 on Sunday morning and will see me travel approx 130 miles before I reach Whitby, my final destination, hopefully that evening.
“I have had a few friends diagnosed with breast cancer so wanted to do it for them as well. But it is about spreading the message and telling people to check, check, check themselves and be aware of the disease,” said Mark.
The idea for the fund-raising event only started last week so I haven't set a fund-raising total.
I won’t be completing the journey alone as I will be followed by three friends and engineers and I have had some great support from people leading up to Sunday and will have some great people supporting me on the day.”
Despite the long journey in front of me, I am looking forward to the journey.
We are well aware that this weekend has seen Sports Relief and other charitable causes being supported; however, if you could please donate, you would be helping make a difference.
Thanks in anticipation.
