Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please take a moment to read why I am running the 2021 London Marathon to raise money for Penny Brohn UK.
Penny Brohn UK have and continue to be a massive support to my mum (Angela) as she has recovered from cancer in 2019. I spoke to mum and asked her about how she feels what Penny Brohn UK have done for her and this is what she said:
"Every time I visit the Penny Brohn UK centre, I feel at peace and supported for everything I am going through. Every one of the staff and volunteers are so friendly and supportive. The advice I’ve received has helped me to move forward and adjust to my living well with cancer. Dad also feels that we are both supported and relaxed whenever he is there too.”
The difference I have seen in my mum (and dad), since mum started speaking to and visiting Penny Brohn UK has been truly amazing. It will be a true honour running the London Marathon for Penny Brohn UK and to have the opportunity to say a massive thank you and give something back to all the amazing people that have helped my mum and our family.
As for me, running for Penny Brohn UK will give me the extra focus and drive I will need when the things are tough during training and the actual race itself. I only started running a few years ago, as a way of having some time to clear my head and get fitter and just switch off from what was a difficult time at work. I have gone from never running in my adult life to competing in a number of 10K and half marathon races. I may only do one marathon in my life and I want it to be one of the big ones and for a charity that really means something to me. To run a marathon will be a significant challenge that I am really looking forward to undertaking to improve my own physical and mental health. The sense of achievement I would feel when I complete the London marathon would be amazing when I look back at the reasons why I started running.
