Age UK is the new force combining Age Concern and Help the Aged. Their aim is to do more to enrich the lives of people in later life. They offer help, information and advice to everyone in need of assistance.

There are over 800,000 people in the UK, in later life with care-related needs who do not receive any formal support. It is left to charitable organisations such as Age UK and the good will of friends, relatives and neighbours to offer help and support to those in need. I am aiming to complete my personal challenge as a way of doing my bit to offer such help.

By cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats in ten days, averaging around 95 miles per day, the idea is to complete the challenge while my legs are still able to do so. My intention is to both raise awareness for the incredible work carried out by the charity and all those involved in the care of the elderly, and to also raise as much money as possible to support those in need of care.  I would like to ask you for a donation of whatever you can afford, to help Age UK, help those in later life and need of assistance.

The End to End cycle challenge commences on the 27th May 2012. If you could help me reach my target by this date all my efforts could then be directed to the pedaling!

It is appreciated that there are many requests for financial help and support at the moment, as many charities struggle to raise the money they need, to do the work they would like to do. However, ageing is a part of life, we all get old and may need the support of others at some point in our lives.
