Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
In one month's time my friend Danny Cooper and I are embarking on a 4 day cycling journey, starting in London and ending in Paris. The journey will bare witness to two men, head to toe in lycra covering 280 miles with one mission - To raise money and awareness for the selfless individuals who dedicate their lives in assisting others whilst working in Basildon Hospitals Critical Care Unit ("CCU"). A unit which provides 24/7 care and support to those who need it most.
Why are we doing this? Towards the end of November last year my father thought he had a cold. However in true form opted to let it run its course until my mother insisted he schedule an appointment with the GP. The day he saw the GP he was immediately referred to Basildon Hospital where he was admitted to undergo further assessments and within two days, transferred to Basildon Hospitals Critical Care Unit ("CCU"). Upon further examination we sadly discovered that my Dad was diagnosed with Recurrent Metastatic Lymphoma - Unfortunately my father was no stranger to cancer and despite winning previous battles, we all sadly lost this war and my father passed away a few days later.
Whilst my Dad's passing remains heart breaking, the round the clock care and attention provided by those in Basildon Hospitals Critical Care Unit went above and beyond. Not only did they go the extra mile for my late father, but also for us as a family in our time of need which we will all be forever grateful for.
The lack of funding in the NHS is no secret to any of us. That's why Danny and I are clipping in and setting off in a months time. Any donation big or small is hugely appreciated. Hopefully none of us ever need to meet the unsung heroes who work in a Critical Care Unit however if we do, I would like to think that any awareness or funds raised will have a positive impact and help those to continue to provide the level of comfort and support for those who need it most.
All funds raised will go towards Mid & South Essex Hospitals Charity
Thank you for your kind and generous support
