Stonham Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge · 2 October 2009
Hello to all.
Some of our walkers have completed the challenge.
Thank you to everybody that has sponsored me and the rest of me team.
On the second attempt of this challenge some of our original walkers completed the challenge in 10.5hrs this is a fantastic 1.5hrs under the challenge time. The walkers that completed the challenge found it to be gruelling but were proud of their achievement.
There will be a further attempt at the challenge for those walkers that were unable to take part in this attempt so watch this space.
So far with your help we have managed to raise over £1,300 so again we would like to thank you for all your support and generosity.
Personal Profile
Hi my name is Mark Thorpe and I am 36 years old. My aim is to climb the Yorkshire 3 peaks. I want to support Stonham raise money for future activities and projects. I have never done anything like this before and I am really looking forward to telling my kids who are 15, 8, 7 and 5 about this project. In preparation for the event I am devising a fitness plan over and above my current exercise regime of mainly jogging. I have applied for a gym membership card that I should receive over the next week or two. When on the hard parts of the climbs I will motivate myself by thinking of the money that will be raised and all the future activities we can help to fund. I came to Stonham to help me stay clear of Drugs from which I have been clean now for over 6 and a half months, the staff at Stonham have so far been very helpful. Stonham Challenge Profile Stonham provides housing, care and practical support for vulnerable people. Stoneham's work is about ensuring that disadvantaged people can live securely and independently. It works with single homeless people, people with mental health problems, young people leaving care, women and children escaping domestic violence, ex-offenders, refugees, vulnerable mothers and people with substance misuse problems. We will be climbing the Yorkshire three peaks in the hope of building up enough sponsorship money to help us fund further projects including taking part in the national three peaks challenge next year. This project was seen as an ideal opportunity for staff and residents of Stonham to develop team working skills and confidence. All parties involved are looking forward to the huge sense of pride and achievement they will get from completing this project.* Charities pay a small fee for our service.
