Story
I'm riding nearly 350km in the heat and hills of Jordan, across few days, in March 2022 for two BRILLIANT charities that do AMAZING work in the hospitality and pub industries: Only A Pavement Away (OAPA) and the Licensed Trade Charity (LTC).
Hospitality businesses like pubs and restaurants, and the people that work in them, have had nothing other than a torrid time over the past two years. Not every business has made it through, and many have lost their jobs, their livelihoods, and face real hardship and real struggles.
These two charities OAPA and LTC stage amazing interventions when people need them the most. They change, transform and save lives. OAPA helps vulnerable people (such as the homeless, former prisoners and ex-service personnel) find hope, dignity and stability through employment. The LTC helps those working in our industry who are enduring tough times in a variety of vital ways, such as serious illness, unemployment and financial hardship - and they have been doing it for more than 200 years.
And so, alongside 25 (or so) other hardy (slightly deranged?) souls, I will be cycling almost 350km through the mountains of Jordan over four days. Before that, there'll be lots of winter training on the streets, parks and hills of Surrey and South West London. Thanks for taking the time to read this fundraising story and please support these two fantastic causes, if you can.
