Story
Hello all,
For those of you not aware I am competing in an event called Tough Mudder on Sunday 13 May! An event for the stupid and crazy minded folk who think running 13 miles and weaving there way over and under 25 obstacles is fun! The great thing about it though is the fact a lot of money is raised for the Help for Heroes’ charity and its fun. As part of the money raised for Help for Heroes charity is taken from the entrance fee I wanted to raise some money for a charity called MIND. This charity will help people with mental illnesses. Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem, so you will know someone close to you at some point in your life who will be affected by this.
My mum doesn’t have a mental illness but has suffered for many years from an illness that the doctors to this day are baffled by, a brain disease which slowly eats away at the brain. This started out as an ataxia of the brain slowly eating away at the cerebella, which in my mum first stopped her from walking and then attacked her speech. But now her illness has progressed and now slowly stopping her from eating. I know this doesn’t relate to mental health but it was the closest charity I could find relating to the brain on this site. This shouldn’t matter though as it’s still a great charity who do fantastic work for people who need help.
I would be most grateful if you could spare a few pennies and help this charity and all those out there who have or known someone with an illness of the mind, albeit physical or mental health.
Your kindness will be gratefully appreciated. Now wish me luck and a safe journey home after Tough Mudder!!
Many thanks
Mark
