Story
HiI’m going to be doing a sleep out to try and increase awareness of the homeless and to raise funds for Wintercomfort. I completed part of my social work training at Wintercomfort - it is an amazing place and helps so many vulnerable men and women from the Cambridge area. Those who use Wintercomfort have often come from abusive childhoods, relationships or experienced traumatic life events they have not been able to recover from.Their coping mechanisms tend to be the cruel and unforgiving misuse of drugs or alcohol. This is what is seen and focussed on.What is often unseen by the public is their emotional vulnerability, isolation, struggle to survive and also their brilliance. I have been amazed at the talent and skills regularly seen and encouraged at Wintercomfort. If you are able to donate I’d be very grateful.
