Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi, I am running a half marathon and since it’s based in the beautiful city of Cambridge I’m running in memory of a work colleague, Rob Rowling, who used to work at Jesus College. In 2008 Rob started getting absent-minded, confused and would occasionally stare into space. It was then, at 59 years that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer ’s disease. With the help of new drugs, at the time, his condition remained stable and we would have good conversations and laughter like the old times. In December 2010 Rob suffered from acute confusion and not long after he died. Alzheimer’s is described as a living bereavement. 800,000 people in the UK suffer with Alzheimer's. One year on we still remember and miss him and it would be good if we can raise as much money for Alzheimer’s Research to alleviate the suffering of affected people. The top picture shows teams from Jesus College competing in the chariots of fire relay race, an annual event which attracts 400 teams of six runners to run for a variety of charities. I also run for fun with the college running club and in competition runs on my own and with friends. The other photo is my friend and colleague Rob,missed by all the staff at Jesus College.
