Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On September 16th, I'm entering the ring to raise money and awareness for Hospitality Action, a fantastic charity that helps service industry professionals, past and present, who are in crisis.
To an industry where issues such mental health problems, addiction and abuse are all too common place, Hospitality Action provides a range of free services to help those in need. Whether you're in the kitchen, paying your rent with fire and knives, or out front, putting on a smile and doing your best to make others happy, even if you're at a low yourself, it is an industry which can really take it's toll on both mental and physical health.
Many of us in hospitality battle with these or other problems, but, just like mental health in general, the vast majority of those affected will not speak out because of the stigmas attached. For those who need help, but don't know where to turn, Hospitality Action are there, whether it be just listening on the phone, providing advice, helping to re-home those who have fallen on hard times, befriending older people who have few people to talk to, giving shelter for those who are affected by domestic abuse, and much more.
For so many who are suffering from problems such as those above, it can feel like a daily fight against themselves. The Big Fight for Hospitality Action is about bringing that fight into the light and encouraging more open conversation about these issues, with the aim of breaking down some of the stigmas attached.
Please consider donating, and, if you can be in Manchester on September 16th, contact me about tickets to the Big Fight!
