Story
This will be my first half marathon and I wanted to raise money for a charity that supports people who have mental health challenges.
CPSL Mind does exactly that.
The timing of the run will also coincide with the week of the 30th anniversary of my dad's death. He sadly took his own life, hence why it is important to support charities that provide support for those suffering from mental health challenges (i'm sure most of us have friends and family who have needed support).
Training is going okay so far and i completed a 10K in Huntingdon in January.
Anything you can donate will be appreciated.
Some key CPSL Mind stats:
By raising funds for CPSL Mind, you are supporting the charity to help local people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough in their recovery from a wide range of mental health challenges and promote positive mental health in our community. The charity's services have a very real impact on the lives of local people, organisations and community groups. The charity promotes positive wellbeing, challenge stigma and forms connections at the heart of their communities
Last year, we supported more than 4,300 people and provided approximately:
20,500 hours of one-to-one support to more than 2,500 people.
2,100 hours of group activities for 900 people.
2,000 hours of online support to 700 people via the digital service provided by Qwell.
175 hours of ad hoc listening support via our general enquiries telephone line.
450 hours of training and workshops attended by 1,550 participants.
In addition:
1 in 4 of us will experience mental health issues in any given year.
Suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under 49;
And the biggest cause of death in women under 35
Mental health issues are responsible for 91 million working days lost in the UK.
