Story
This will be the third year the I have organised The Coast to Coast challenge and am thoroughly looking forward to this years event.
2008 we raised money for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance and in Memory of my Brother in Law Graham.
We completed the event in absolutely foul weather conditions and rode the opposite route to normal i.e East to West but all still had a great time with many tales to tell from the 130 mile ride.
2009 was for Brianna. We supported the Joseph Salmon Trust.
An epic day with fantastic weather and a sub 10 hour crossing followed by a cool tin of Stella on the sea wall at Scarborough.
2010 will hopefully bring good weather for the event along with continued support from riders and sponsors for this years benificiary, The Starlight foundation.
I consider myself to be reasonably capable of dealing with whatever comes my way on lifes journeys, however, there are incidents and experiences that for one reason or another really strike a chord and makes you stop and think.
Whenever I see a child suffering, it hurts me, when I see a child been smacked so hard it lifts them off their feet, I want to return the gesture to the giver, or the young man whos Haemophilia restricts him from doing "what boys do" but he gets on with it anyway and deals with it. I am no different to anyone else in that respect.
Then there is a point, when its much closer to home, when your daughter is crying with pain because of athritis in her 6 year old body.Or holding her in your arms as the general anaesthetic starts to work so she can have more steroid injections into her knees and ankles.
The Starlight Trust makes childrens lives that bit more "childlike" when thay are having to deal with illness.
You can help me in supporting the Starlight foundation by sponsoring our ride, it does not have to be money, however you want to help is good.
