Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Here is my story

As some of you will be aware I am raising money for SarcomaUK because they help develop treatments for the devastating disease called Sarcoma. This is a very rare form of cancer with very few people even aware of its existence. More can be read about Sarcoma here http://www.sarcoma.org.uk/what-is-sarcoma. Sadly I was one of the many people who had never heard of this form of cancer until it was too late. My Fiancé (Kinga Nowicka) was sadly diagnosed with the disease in early April 2012 after only showing signs of something being wrong on 23rd Feb 2012. Doctors were quite baffled for some time by the form of cancer that Kinga had and sadly when it was confirmed there was nothing really that could be done as it had already spread. However, this did not stop Kinga thinking positive and believing that she would beat it. Kinga was treated by one of the most renowned Sarcoma specialists in the country at Christies in Manchester, however, after one course of chemotherapy it was decided that there was nothing more that could be done for her. She was sent home with weeks to live and sadly passed away on 4th July 2012 aged just 27.
Kinga's passing left so many people heartbroken as she really was a beautiful person to know, or in my case love. I spent 4 very special years with her and there will always be a special place in my heart for her which is why I am driven to helping SarcomaUK in every way possible. I want to make sure that one day our efforts benefit the lives of others by beating this disease. Not just those directly affected by this form of cancer but the lives of the people around them too.

As this story shows Sarcoma is an extremely deadly disease and we really do need to raise awareness of this and help SarcomaUK in any way possible to develop better treatments/cures to give people a chance of life. Don't wait until it's too late as by reading this page you now know the affects.

My Challenge

I will begin my challenge on the 4th July 2013 one year to the day of Kinga's passing. It will be a combination of Biking, swimming, Kayaking and mountain walking. I will have friends and family supporting each day but the more the merrier and certainly on Day 4 there is the option to join in by walking Snowdon with us. My brother is intending on taking part with myself and a couple of other friends have said they will try to take part in one or two events but I will be doing all of the below.

Day 1 (Thursday 4th July 2013)
Biking from The Boars Head Northop Hall to Bala Lake (approx 40 miles as we are not sure where we will be staying yet).
Day 2 (Friday 5th July 2013)
Swimming 2 miles in Bala lake, which is the equivalent of swimming the width of the lake and back or 129 lengths of a 25mtr swimming pool (however, swimming in a pool is easier than open water).
Day 3 (Saturday 6th July 2013)
Kayaking the length of the lake (4 miles) then biking half way to Mount Snowdon (Approx 20 miles depending on overnight accommodation).
Day 4 (Sunday 7th July 2013)
Completing the bike ride to Mount Snowdon (approx another 20 miles) to meet at the Llanberis Path (LL55 4TT) and then walk up and down Mount Snowdon via the Llanberis path.
Day 5 (Monday 8th July 2013)
Biking back from overnight accommodation in Snowdon to the Boards Head Northop Hall (approx 60 miles).

If you think I'm mad you are probably right but don't tell me in nice kind words show me in your donations. Many thanks for reading my page and for using just giving.

A quick note also thanking everyone for their kind donations but I would also like to thank corporate sponsorship from http://www.chestertongrant.co.uk who have kindly offered to pay for a nights accomodation.
