First of all let me say a massive thank you to everyone for clicking the link and taking the time to look at my Just Giving page.
Please feel free to share it with anybody that knows me.
On Sunday 11th September 2022 I have set myself the challenge of running the Great North Run. The biggest half marathon in the UK and 13.1 miles of sheer pain and hell for me.
Most people will know that I’m nearly the big 40 (it’s still a couple of years away so don’t be cheeky). With that in mind I decided that this was the year to do it as the big milestone is not far off.
The charity I have chosen to support with peoples kind donations and sponsorship is ADHD.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people's behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse.
Couple of quick facts….
1 in 5 of us live with ADHD.
ADHD occurs more in men (12.9%) than woman (4.9%).
Over 40% of children living with ADHD also have a parent with this disorder.
Adults & Children that suffer from ADHD can sometimes be mistaken for being badly behaved as many people are not aware or don’t have a lot of understanding about the condition.
As some of you may know, my nephew Ethan, 11, suffers from ADHD so it is a charity that is very close to my heart.
It has been a long process and battle from a young age for both Ethan and his mam Helen which resulted in him being diagnosed with the condition 6 years ago.
Due to the help and support from various ADHD groups Ethan was diagnosed from the age of 5 and although he still has his moments his condition is now well managed.
Behind ADHD there is a very loving, caring and funny little boy with a massive heart and because of the ongoing support he receives, this is seen more often by people on a day to day basis rather a child that is portrayed as just being badly behaved.
This is why I have chosen this charity to try and raise more awareness and to show my gratitude for all the help and support Ethan and other children are receiving and will continue to receive over the years.
I have set myself a target to try and raise £1000.
I know times are hard at the minute for everyone with the current climate but any donations big or small would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your kind support.
