Story
I”m running in the London Landmarks half marathon on 1st August. I had intended to run it during my sixtieth year in memory of my mum, Jean. However, it was cancelled last year along with everything else.
Sadly my mum passed on in 2013 after a cruel seven years of suffering from dementia, a very distressing and traumatic time for her family as she slipped away whilst still being physically fit. Fortunately she spent five of those years in a specialist care home so it could have been even worse. What was obvious, is that the disease is indiscriminate and can affect us all.
I’m running for a very worthy charity that needs support and I would appreciate any small -amount you may be able to donate.
Thank you.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
