Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year, a long standing work colleague and friend went through the pain of loosing his son. Tragically his son took his own life at the tender age of 20.

Since such time, I have been made aware of the shocking statistic that suicide is the single biggest cause of death in men aged 20-49 in England and Wales.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (C.A.L.M) is a charity organisation that offers support to men in the UK of any age who are down or in crisis via their 24hr helpline and website.

I have therefore decided to take part in a sponsored 70 mile cycle ride organised by my employer Vodafone to help raise funds for CALM in memory of Martin. The ride is on the 25th September and is from Vodafone's headquarters in Newbury to the Olympic Stadium in Central London. Up until 3 weeks ago, the furthest i had cycled in 30 years was the 6 miles to/from work! Therefore70 miles is going to be a mighty personal  challenge. Your support in getting me across the finish line would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards helping the young men out there who are in crisis.

As this is a Vodafone sponsored event, Vodafone have pledged to double the amount i raise unto a maximum of £350. ! Therefore if i can reach my total of £350, a combined £700 will be donated to CALM.

If its easier, you sponsor me by sending an SMS text message to 70070 , with the following content:- CALM65 followed by, £5, £10 etc and a message

Thank you .

Mark.
