Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 17th March 2018 I went to a St. Patrick's night Ceilidh to raise money for an extension to the Chemotherapy Unit at the University Hospital of North Durham. As at all charity events I bought a raffle ticket and I was suprised that I actually WON!!!! My prize came as an even bigger shock to me.....it was a tandem skydive!
My first thought was "this will be a good experience" but I think that could have been because of the Guinness and baby Guinness! When I woke up the next morning I was having second thoughts....I have always said I would never do a skydive! My idea of getting on a plane is the door closing and only opening when the plane has landed....hopefully in a hot country...NOT....getting on a plane, flying to 10,000ft, opening the door and then jumping out with someone strapped to me that I have never met before!
I have thought about it and after many conversations I have decided that I will face my fears....I'm not keen on heights or flying!! At the end of the day this is all to improve the facilities for patients who are fighting cancer so the least I can do is face my fears.
The overall aim is to raise £1.8 million to enlarge and improve the cancer treatment facilities at the University Hospital of North Durham. This will allow County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust to provide a more welcoming space for patients while they undergo their chemotherapy.
So if I'm jumping out of a plane the least you can do is donate to this great charity and help improve the space patients will attend when they are going through the worst time of their lives.
