Story
When a child suddenly becomes ill, there's no time to plan. The Sick Children's Trust is the charity that gives families one less thing to worry about by giving them a place to stay, and someone to talk to, free of charge just minutes from their child's bedside.
Thanks for taking time to visit my JustGiving page. I along with some other likeminded individuals have decided to go on a nice little bike ride for a few days and raise some money and awareness for the great charity – The Sick Children’s Trust.
This little jaunt will involve cycling 600km over 5 days from the Sick Children’s Trust’s ‘Home from Homes’ houses in London to their house in Newcastle, visiting every house in between.
The reason behind this adventure… My wife Sarah has known Lesa for over 20 years and in turn I’ve known Dave for over 15. When Dave and Lesa’s son Brody was born, he was unfortunately very ill with a condition called meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) which occurred during labour. Although Brody has made a full recovery, he was on a ventilator for the first 30 days of his life, but grew stronger and was able to go home.
While Brody was treated at The Royal London Hospital, by the incredible doctors and nurses in the paediatric intensive care unit, Dave and Lesa were able to support him because they had a ‘Home from Home’; Stevenson House, which is run by The Sick Children’s Trust.
