Most of you know me as a Professional Landscape Photographer and writer who works in the lake District. What many aren't aware of is that in 1980 I underwent a major trauma that has over the years resulted in six spinal operations. Most of my problems have been lower back but the last operation I undertook was in 2007 when I had a titanium cage inserted in my neck and carbon discs inserted. In essence, I have learnt to be able to get around and make the situation work for me but others aren't so lucky and trust me, when your spine is damaged irrevocably it not only affects you but the good people around you. I am fortunate to have a great network of family and friends who have supported me throughout.
I am so lucky to be able to do what I do and never take it for granted. Others though aren't so lucky and their rehabilitation and quality of life needs our support. I came into cycling in the mid 80's to help me and it has worked and I see undertaking the '100' as my way of thanking those that not only helped me but will assist those that will sadly be affected by their situation. I do hope you can help no matter how small the donation may be.
Kind Regards
Mark
