Story
Doddie's story has touched the rugby world. To fearlessly face down his diagnosis and raise £7 million in 3 years for MND research has been mind blowing. And to have done it with smile never far from his lips, and humour punctuating every call to action, Doddie does inspire. #DoddieAID is a way for us all to do our little bit to help him in his quest to find better treatments for this awful condition, and Doddie being Doddie, we hope it is going to be a lot of fun.
Andy and Mark completed a 24 spinathon for Doddie in 2018 and while rank, raised a whole load of £ to help fight this horrible illness. This year, on Saturday 30th January, they’re setting off again but this time their girlfriends Catherine and Jamie are joining, so they’ve upped the stakes. They’ll complete the same 24 hour spinathon with the target of cycling the equivalent distance of Glasgow to London (over 500 km), but this time with 2 marathons (52.4 miles) thrown in for good measure.
The plan of attack is - 1 hour on per person 6 times each from 12.00 30th Jan - 12.00 31st January with at least a 1.5km run, per hour of “rest” off the bike.
So needless to say, it’s not going to be fun, but any money raised will go to help fight this awful illness, so please give generously.
Thanks.
Catherine, Jamie, Andy and Mark
