Story
I'm back with avengance this year for a third Liverpool Tri and hoping to get a PB (this year I won't stay up late and have just one more drink the night before!). As always the RNLI require your support. They now have a new life boat, the aptly named Diamond Jubilee and this is funded entirely through donations unlike the actual Diamond Jubilee which is funded entirely by the tax payer. All donations to this page will go to life boats and will be greatly appreciated by me and the life boats team. This year I'll be wearing the really bright blue colours of Merseytri once the wet suit is stripped, so look out for me if you're anywhere near and shout encouragement like 'move your butt' etc.it all helps. I'll stick my race number and wave on here when I know it. Many thanks! Donation to the Life Boats Appeal is easy just text RNLI69 to 70070 and the amount that you wish to donate in £'s or hit the donate button and follow the instructions. We are greatful for any amount donated to this vital national service.
I have had a long rest from events since the Marathon and my legs have now recovered from their ordeal. As December loomed the 2011 Santa Dash drew ever nearer and the Santa suits were duly ordered. This time was different from all the others because Gaines Junior had joined in the efforts so there is a younger, better looking and less bald Gaines version in the race..... Our little Dad and lad team nipped round in a respectful 25 mins. Any donations still welcome and I'm now also taking bets on how long Marcus will leave his Santa suit on...... So far 7 Hours and 20 Mins..... Please look out for events next year - Next up is likely to be the Liverpool Half. Donation to our Life Boats Appeal is easy just text RNLI69 to 70070 and the amount that you wish to donate in £'s or hit the donate button and follow the instructions. I got to the end of the long and winding road so a big thanks to my sponsor for faithfully turning up to hold me space blanket on in the wind and rain - Thanks Mum! That's me first Marathon so a PB (should have have walked round so next years time looks comparatively good). I'm just chuffed to have finished. The support was amazing and had a tangible effect on morale and got me to the end. Brilliant. legs still slightly stiff when walking down stairs but all part of the fun?! Santa Dash is next up (unless I find an event in the meantime) and I'm hoping that young Gaines our Marcus will be able to take part this year so please look out for details and sponsor him via this page. You know it makes sense! Thanks
Next event up is the inaugural Liverpool Marathon nicknamed the long and winding road race. So called because of the beatles heritage of this great city and the appropriately titled song (obviously). This is a first for me too at this distance as I have avoided it like the plague until now.... Your help and support is always greatly appreciated and I would like to make the modest target of £100 for the RNLI who continue with their great work rescuing lives and supporting themselves financially through the generosity of others. Please don't forget how easy it is to sponsor me using your mobile phone. Just text RNLI69 to 70070 and the amount that you wish to donate in £'s. I will be personally delighted for your support and the funds will be greatly received by RNLI. Jot again after the event.....
The Para 10 was earlier this September and I decided to give everyone a break from my hassling for dosh and ticked the donate box on my application instead. But now you're all rested I can start with the badgering again. Just a quick personal message to Mr Goulding out there ......WHERE WERE YOU????? Maybe next year but make sure you're getting faster.......
You can now donate by text by texting RNLI69 to 70070 and the amount you wish to donate in £'s. All donations will be greatly received.
Once again, a big thanks for all your invaluable support for me and for the RNLI.
More soon...
The RNLI are a great charity who risk their lives daily to pluck people to safety from our coast line, so please help support their volunteers in the work that they do with whatever you can donate.
Many thanks, Mark
