Story
Last year, while I was getting drunk on my stag do, Chris was becoming an Ironman triathlete. I have never been more proud and admiring of one of my friends' achievements. This was the culmination of 30 years of Chris's adventuring, pushing boundaries and grabbing everything life had to offer.
Later in the year Chris was fatally injured in an accident in the Lake District. The Great North Air Ambulance attended the scene of the accident and gave Chris the best possible chance of living as well as providing support to his fiance.
In memory of Chris, and to raise money for this wonderful charity, 31 of his friends - Team Bygate - are taking part as teams or individuals in the Outlaw Half Triathlon (1.2 mile open water swim, 56 mile cycle, 13.1 mile run). I am doing the individual event and it is by far the hardest challenge I have ever set myself, I have been training hard and am hoping to raise as much money as possible. I just wish I could be doing this with Chris rather than for him.
The Great North Air Ambulance receives no grants or funding and is run entirely on donations. Please give anything that you can.
Like Chris, I would also encourage everyone to become registered organ donors.
Thank you
Mark
