We are a rescue centre in Kenya working to care for abandoned babies

Story

A few months ago myself and a few friends decided one evening to have a crack at a long distance cycle ride. Why you might ask?  Because (1) the challenge, (2) it sounded like fun (!) and (3) it would be a great opportunity to raise lots of money for deserving causes.  We decided on a 240 mile route from Edinburgh back to the Eagle & Child (our local pub). Having never sat on a bike since age 16 I had little idea what I was letting myself in for! Four months of training, aches and pains and we’re almost “good to go”. Our challenge will commence on Friday 18 May and we aim to complete the distance within 3 days.

I have chosen to raise money for The Mercy Rescue Trust, a children’s rescue centre located in Kitale, Kenya. The centre, which is supported by my local church, rescues babies and young children who would otherwise have little hope of life. It provides the children with desperately needed welfare, medical / nutritional care and early education.

100% of all monies raised will be personally taken over to the centre by volunteers and every penny raised will be spent directly on giving the babies and young children a chance in life. No matter how small a donation (if only a few pounds) it will make a real life saving difference to someone who otherwise would have little or no chance of life whatsoever.

Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your support.
