I have thought about growing a moustache for Movember for a couple of years now. So I'm asking for sponsorship on behalf of Arthritis Research UK.

The reason that I have chosen this charity is that I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis earlier this year. I am ashamed to say that even though my sister has suffered greatly from the same condition for very many years I did not know that much about it. So here is a quick overview:

The word Arthritis refers to a number of conditions that affect the joints causing inflammation and disability. It is very common. My condition  (Rheumatoid Arthritis) can occur in people of all ages and, as I understand it, is where the bodies immune system starts attacking the joints. The causes of the condition are unclear, there is no cure and a large number of people are affected.

My condition is not too advanced and is controlled by drugs. More severe cases than mine can require joint replacement surgery, this nornally comes after several years of reducing mobility, inflamation and pain.
