Guildford Cathedral Abseil · 7 September 2013

We fund research, facilities and equipment to improve bowel cancer survival.

Story

Recently a good friend within the Guildford Rugby Club family, Dave Stott, was diagnosed with bowel cancer which in turn made me aware of the good work done by GUTS. As such i want to support GUTS who, in turn, will support his recovery.

I will be climbing the spiral staircase of 249 steps to the dizzy heights of 160ft and marvel at the panoramic views of Guildford enjoyed every day by the Cathedral’s 15ft tall Golden Angel…and then climb over the top!

The charity abseil is to raise much needed funds for GUTS (Fighting Bowel Cancer). GUTS is dedicated to the early detection and screening of bowel cancer. We support research, patient care and the provision of the latest equipment for the treatment of bowel cancer.

About the charity

In the UK 120 people receive a bowel cancer diagnosis every day and annually, this awful disease claims around 17000 lives. Diagnosed at its earliest stage, there is a 90% chance of survival; to improve early detection and treatment, GUTS funds a Colon Cancer Family Clinic, equipment and research.
