Story
Any young person is at risk of being exploited. Abusers do not discriminate based on ethnicity, social background or where they live. It can be someone they know, a stranger or even an organised gang.
What begins as a normal relationship quickly sucks them into a world of criminal or sexual activity, often both. Safe & Sound provide vital support to children across Derbyshire who are at risk of being exploited, helping them back to a place of safety and dignity with dedicated 1-2-1 work that lowers their risk and transforms their future.
As Chair of Trustee's at Safe & Sound I will be cycling across the UK to raise funds for the vital work they do, ensuring that the charity can provide the right support and care to transform young people's lives.
Starting on the West coast and finishing on the East coast this is an iconic route cycled by hundreds of people every year, usually over 4 or 5 days. But how about doing it in just 1 day?
A stunning 150 mile (241 km) with 4500m (14700 ft) of ascent road ride from the mountainous Western Lake District, through the Yorkshire Dales, across the Vale of York and finally the Northern Valleys of the North York Moors, finishing by the sea in Whitby.
What better way to tick off this iconic cycle than by doing it in one day?
