We fund research and raise awareness to shine a light on Lewy body dementia

Story

Hi people, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I am finally getting around to running the Great North run. I shall be running it for The Lewy Body Society. Now i'm not great with words but the reason I am running for this cause is that Its something that affects my dad who is my absolute hero and a true inspiration to me and our family.

Lewy body dementia is not a well known disease but actually it is the second most common form of dementia. It is caused when protein deposits called Lewy bodies develop in nerve cells in the brain regions involving thinking, memory and movement. It is a horrific disease with some horrendous symptoms.

Now my main aim is to raise awareness of this little known disease and if we can raise some funds along the way to help with research into this horrific condition and maybe one day find a cure then I am willing to do whatever it takes. Thanks very much for coming to see my page.

Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.
