Story
We are setting up a charity skydive in aid of Youth Adventure Trust and want to get as many people involved as possible. We are doing this not only because the money helps the charity provide vulnerable young people with opportunities in life, but also because it will be an opportunity for a group of us to take on the ultimate 'bucket list' challenge.Everybody who takes part will be conquering something - a fear, a phobia, a personal goal. And when they are in the sky, 2 miles above the ground, ready to jump - the only thing that will help them take that crucial last step is the knowledge that they are doing it to change a vulnerable young person's life.
Before I tell you briefly about the charity, just take 2 minutes to watch Will Smith talk about his skydiving experience first, before you decide. Watch from 1 min 20 seconds in (or just watch the whole thing). We are going to confront fear head on - now surely that's worth you putting your hand in your pocket?!
OK, so the Youth Adventure Trust aims to give young vulnerable people opportunities in life that they wouldn’t normally have, by getting them outdoors taking part in group activities, inspiring young lives and building their confidence and belief in self-worth in a programme lasting for 3 years at a time of life crucial to development from ages 11 to 14. Personally, I was very fortunate in those early years and was given lots of opportunities to do things which have helped me be the person I am today – my colleagues and I want to give something back and provide adventurous opportunities for vulnerable young people who live locally to us.
Your support will make a massive difference, not only to the youngsters on the Youth Adventure Programme, but also to the people who will be confronting fear and 'falling for funds'.
