Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over the last 10 years I have suffered quite badly from migraines, sometimes having a migraine that lasted for 5 days, this would include a full day in bed.
The Migraine Trust provided me with the resources to study migraines and work out what was causing them for me. I will probably never be cured, but have found many triggers to avoid. Avoiding these triggers like alcohol, bright lights, dehydration has enabled me to reduce my migraine attacks significantly. I have only suffered from 2 mild migraines this year and feel like I have my life back.
The London Marathon is giving me the chance to raise some money to help the Migraine Trust to help those of you who suffer in the same way as I do. I believe the key is understanding your migraine, not curing it.
1 year ago I could barely run 5km, having never been a runner, and I am certainly not a natural runner. I have trained religously for the past 9 months and have completed 2 half marathons (totally exhausted at the end of them). The half marathons made me realise I have a really long way to go to reach the full marathon. I also have a heart condition called Atrial Fibrilation which makes this even more challenging. Doctor says I am fine to do the marathon but must train up slowly, so hours and hours of training are required.
So please sponsor me to help me through those cold winter training hours in windy Kerry. The Migraine Trust is a fantastic cause and I am an example of their work. Without the help from the Migraine Trust, I would probably not have a hope of running the marathon as the dehydration from running used to trigger a migraine and still would if I didnt understand how to hydrate my body.
