Story
You always know someone who has cancer but never understand the hurt they feel when it is confirmed and the sadness they hide when they see the distress caused to the friends and family.
Our family's involvement with cancer has not been as traumatic as others but the reliance on Macmillan and the support they gave made dealing with the situation easier.
This challenge - 720 KM with 11 KM of climbing from the atlantic to the med over the Pyrenees in 100 hours was an easy alcohol induced decision at the time. It seems fitting that I can use it to support Macmillan abeit in a small way to help them help others. So on June 28th 2011, an unfit 49er (not 50 Mandy) sets off hopefully to finish within 4 and a half days.
Here's to Grampa and those who have and are yet to rely on Macmillan.
