Well, I survived the trip from Leatherhead to Gilwern last year and the lycra is back on for 180 miles from Surrey to Wales to raise more money for Get A Head in memory of Mel Jaggard.

For the second year in a row, I am feeling underprepared as the departure date nears.

But I have faith in three things:

• Willpower over wheelpower
• Vaseline
• The generosity of colleagues and friends towards a great cause, this really does make a difference and is hugely appreciated.
