Story
Thanks for visiting my Just giving page.
I am a kidney and pancreas transplant patient which I received in 2009 from somebody who had passed away. If it wasn't for his donation I would be very ill.
Kidney disease kills 45,000 people in the UK every year. The BKPA helps support those on Dialysis and post transplant in many ways and every penny goes towards these patients. A transplant is not a cure, it is an extreme treatment and Dialysis is a very exhausting process that drains the body daily.
I had my transplant in 2009 and although i have other complications - some of which only the closest of my friends now about, i like to complete these challenges to prove to myself they can be done and to prove to others that a transplant can transform peoples' lives. It is also making people more aware of the benefits, often life changing, of organ donation.
Please consider sponsoring this cause. The Kidneys affect so much in the body so this is a huge challenge to undertake as some days i can feel exhausted and drawn out. You will be helping many people who feel far worse than myself. Thanks for reading.
