Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As a lot of you will know on 29th February this year we had a huge shock when within an hour of Justine feeling some discomfort at home, Thomas was born in Pembury Hospital 96 days early.
Within seconds of being born there were a whole team of doctors and nurses rapidly connecting him to all sorts of wires, drips, and monitors (I never fully absorbed all the details) I struggled to look at him to start with as he just resembled some meat in a bag
Pembury Hospital is not geared up for babies so premature, and within hours he was taken by ambulance to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford who had all the facilities needed to keep him alive.
After making spectacular progress over the next few 3 weeks, he moved back to Pembury almost 4 weeks later, now at the height of a global pandemic.
The doctors and nurses across both hospitals were unequivocally fantastic. They treated Thomas as if he was one of their own, and as visiting rules tightened, were sending us regular photos and videos of his progress . To say we will forever be in their debt sound impersonal and cliche but is also completely accurate.
I feel obligated to try and give something back by raising funds for the units that saved Thomas's life. Tiny Toes are a charity who support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford which helps provide:
- Extra support with patient care and other services
- State of the art equipment or additional equipment not available through NHS funding
- Providing the best possible environment for patients, parents, staff and visitors
