When our son Thomas was seriously ill in 2014 (he was just 2) & transferred as an emergency  from Watford General Hospital to the Intensive Care Unit at Addenbrookes  Hospital - the Sick Children's Trust Home  at Acorn House allowed our family to be together & within a couple of minutes  walk from ward.

Henry our youngest was only a few months old at the time & could not go to the ward because of the infection risk - being in Acorn House allowed Gislene & I to take turns to be with Thomas, as he was being cared for by the excellent hospital team.

We are so grateful to the Childrens trust for providing the support when we really needed it - Thomas was in the hospital for  over two weeks  & during this time we had to consider that he might not survive - thoughts & feelings which are difficult to put into words.

 Fortunately made a full recovery after an emergency operation & has grown into a very active & lively seven year old.

 Some  of the other parents we met had been in looked after at Acorn house for several months while their child was receiving treatment.
