I will be attempting my first marathon in Edinburgh on May 31st. Over the past few months I have clocked up over 400 miles of training; as a sloooow runner, this has taken me nearly 75 hours in total. That's a lot of footsteps. Hopefully I will have enough energy left to cover the extra 26.2 miles on race day, and make it round in one piece!
I am running the marathon in aid of the RNLI, a charity that is independent from Government and relies on voluntary contributions to continue its lifesaving work at sea.
If you would like to sponsor me and wonder where the money might go, you might be interested to know that it costs...
£40 to get a pair of boots for a member of lifeboat crew
£65 to equip a lifeguard with binoculars
£500 to equip a member of lifeboat crew with a lifejacket
£1,214 to train one volunteer lifeboat crew member.
Here is the technical bit: donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So, if you are able to, please sponsor me now. Thank you :o)
