Story
The Marina Dalglish Appeal was set-up by the Dalglish family in 2005 'to do something to help' after Marina was successfully treated for Breast Cancer in 2003. The charity has one very simple aim 'to make a difference'.
Our fundraising started with a target of £1.2 million pounds to create a new Chemotherapy Unit at University Hospital Aintree where patients could be treated for a range of cancers in a spa-like environment. The centre is still thriving 8 years on, having treated over 2,000 patients; and also offers complimentary and holistic treatments for breast cancer patients - known as 'The Retreat'. It has been proven that alternative treatments can help ease the side-effects of chemotherapy, as well as reducing stress levels; and a mani-pedi never hurt anyone!
