Story
Sadly this August, my Father in law passed away. He was diagnosed with both Alzheimer's and vascular dementia just a short year before.
Having seen Gareth change and decline health-wise so rapidly was incredibly heartbreaking and cruel for somebody who was so intelligent, caring and fiercely independent throughout their life. It brings home just what a horrendous and savage degenerative disease dementia, in all its forms, really is.
To honour Gareth's memory in the most positive way I am fundraising for Dementia UK by taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon 2019.
As a charity, Dementia UK provide specialist dementia nurses who give dementia care to families in need, enabling them to live more positively with dementia. The Admiral nurses work alongside the family living with dementia, giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions people need.
Every pound that can be raised for Dementia UK will help provide more Admiral Nurses to the families who need them, in their communities, in hospitals and in hospices so please dig deep and help an incredible and very personal cause.
Thank you/ Merci/ Diolch yn fawr.
