Lois our beautiful daughter was born in April last year. A few hours after she was born the doctors told us she was Downs Syndrome. We were completely shocked. At first we had feelings of disappointment but these feelings faded quickly when we grew to love the sweet little girl that is Lois. We knew we would do whatever possible to ensure she has a happy and fulfilled life.
A few weeks after she was born we were referred to Westerlea Early Years. The service is managed by Capability Scotland, it's a service for children 0-5 years with additional support needs in Edinburgh. They offer respite support, group play, music sessions, sensory sessions and access to a hydrotherapy pool on site. Lois has been lucky enough to take part in most of these sessions. The staff there are amazing, really caring and patient with all the children.
A few of my crazy friends have shown their support and agreed to run the half marathon with me to raise cash for Westerlea. I really appreciate this as most of us have never ran before so completing the 13 miles will be a real achievement.
Please help support a local cause and donate whatever you can so Westerlea can continue to do their amazing work.
Thank you in advance!
