I have chosen the charity Refuge, as unfortunately, not every woman or girl is in the incredible lucky and vital situation to have friends and family that can support them on their road to recovery. Being a victim is something that will stick with you for the rest of your life and financial as well as mental support are so crucial to get a woman back on track. 

This is in addition, to raising more awareness, as unfortunately, domestic violence is a topic that is not being publicly talked about, despite so many women being effected. There are a lot myths and misconceptions around this topic and Refuge is doing a lot of work to resolve this. The biggest problem with domestic violence is, it can happen to everyone, any time, regardless of who you are, where you are from or what you do.

In the UK, …

… One in four women is abused during her lifetime.

… One in nine is severely physically abused each year.

… Two are killed each week
