Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Encouraged by our success at Edinburgh last year, running the Marathon for Prostate Cancer (Hannah by her time, Marie just by finishing!) we searched the globe for another Marathon to run, and decided we to swap the friendliness (and gales!) of Scotland for the sights and post-Marathon wines of Paris.

As last year, we are raising money by holding a number of events. The first of these is a mega Jemble Sale to be held in Corston Reading Rooms (near Malmesbury)  on Saturday February 11th, from 2.00pm until 4.30pm.   We welcome all your unwanted items to sell, but most of all come along, enjoy a tea and coffee and meet up with friends.

On March 31st we are holding a dance again in the Corston Reading Rooms, and we are pleased to welcome back the amazing El Pueblo, who are travelling from all over the country to join us.  We are so grateful for their support and can guarantee a fantastic evening.

And finally on Easter Saturday, April 7th, we are holding a Cake and Book Stall under the historic Market Cross in Malmesbury. Donations of cakes and books would be gratefully received.

Please do have a look at our JustGiving page from time to time for updates on our training and events, and hopefully a photograph or two!

UPDATE ON SUNDAY MARCH 4TH

Training:  Well, the training is going very well.  We are both pretty much injury free (except for some creaky knees! - one apiece) and we have both completed a couple of long runs.  Next Sunday we are taking part in the Bath Half Marathon, which should be a good test of how well we are progressing.  The next four weeks are the toughest of the training programme, and after that we are looking forward to the tapering.

Fundraising  Well, on just about the coldest day of the year, we held our Jumble Sale.  Despite the weather, and competition from various sporting events, we raised an amazing £290.00.  We are so grateful to everyone who supported us, especially the residents of Corston, who were amazing.

We are now busy planning our dance on March 31st.  If you would like to purchase tickets, please contact Marie or Hannah.  If you cannot come to the dance, but are able to donate a raffle prize, we would be very happy to receive this.

The following Saturday is our cake, book and toy stall at Malmesbury's ancient Market Cross.  Again all donations would be very gratefully accepted.

However, if you cannot support the above events we would be very grateful to receive your donations through JustGiving.

WE FINISHED THE MARATHON IN PARIS!!!!

Unfortunately we both picked up injuries in the run up to Paris. And to cap it all on the day before the Marathon we both contracted food poisoning.  So, that did slow us down.  However Hannah finished in an amazing four and a half hours, and Marie followed her in a whole hour later at five and a half hours.  However we both really enjoyed the experience.....and we can't wait to run another marathon, next time in better shape!!

We are so grateful for all the support we have received and everyone has been so generous.  However we are still a little short of our fundraising target, so do keep those donations rolling in!!
