Rebecca and I are taking part in the 2011 midnight walk at Tiverton to raise funds for Hospiscare, in memory of Mum (Granny - Joan Roberts).  The support and care provided by the hospice for Mum last summer was of great assistance to us all, especially Dad.  So now we would like to help keep this special facility going for the benefit of others who find themselves in need at such times. Please would you contribute to this special cause by sponsoring me for the 7.5miles we will be walking, in the dark, on April 9th. (The route is circular, starting from the Tiverton Rugby Club going along the old rail track and parts of the canal path.)

Hospiscare raise and spend nearly £5m a year to care for over 2,000 patients and their families (that’s £2,500/patient).  They are proud to say they spend 90p in every pound donated directly on patient care. The other 10% is spent on raising funds and expenses for audits, legal advice and other business costs.  Nearly 70% of their funding comes from voluntary donations or is raised by Hospiscare shops and the Hospiscare Lottery.  Just 25% comes from the government through the Devon PCT.
