Story
Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I made it!!!
The trek through the Sinai Desert is now complete and I was elated to reach the finish line and a glass of champagne without illness or injury or having to hitch a lift! At the beginning I was not at all confident that I had done enough training but by following the boots in front, rather than looking at the height we had to climb, and by the supportive effect of being in a group and the knowledge that I couldn't let my supporters down, I got there. It was a wonderful experience in stunning scenery. The trip was well organised and well supported by the leaders, the Doctor and the local team of Egyptians and Bedouin and the Alzheimer's Society representatives.
The trip was a great climax to a year of fund raising and I shall long remember sleeping out under the stars.
I did the trek to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society having been a carer for my mother because of her dementia for 7 years. The Society is involved in publicity and the spread of information about dementia, support for suffers and their carers as well as reseach, training and lobbying to influence policy. There are 700,000 people at present with dementia in the UK and the numbers are increasing. The need for funds is urgent and I want to make as big a financial contribution as I can at the end of my sponsorship year.
This page will remain open until the end of February 2010 so there is still time to support me if you would like to and help me reach my target. All money donated goes directly to the Alzheimer's Society.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
