Story
My mother, Ailsa Davies, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2012. We watched as it slowly took away not just her memory, but her hobbies, her home, her friends, her mobility, her independence, and finally her life in December 2019.
Sarah Stone and I have been friends since we were 6 years old. She knew Mum almost as long as I did, saw "Aunty" Ailsa regularly over the years and was one of the last people to visit her before she died. Together Sarah and I are aiming to walk 26 miles around Stonehenge on 11 September to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society in Mum's memory.
Many of my friends and their families have also been touched by Alzheimer’s or some other form of dementia, which has turned theirs and their loved ones' lives upside down.
The Alzheimer's Society works every day to help those who suffer from this disease to live their best lives, to support those who care for them, and ultimately to find a cure. Please help us to help them make those things happen - your donation, however large or small, can truly make a difference.
