Story
This year I'm taking on the Three Peaks Challenge and a Snowdon overnight walk in aid of Penny Brohn UK to raise some much needed funds to support those affected by cancer. This is a cause close to my heart as I was faced by stage III cancer in 2017 with a 25% chance of surviving 5 years. I turned to Penny Brohn for support and they welcomed me with open arms. Since then I'm proud to be one of their charity champions and I'm always keen to support their services where possible.
Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. With over 50% of us living with cancer for 10 years or more, the challenge now is living well with an uncertain future, particularly during these uncertain times. Did you know that
1 in 3 people with cancer have depression or anxiety
9 out of 10 people with cancer have emotional, social, or physical unmet needs at diagnosis
You can make a lasting difference to these people. While the NHS does incredible work in treating cancer, our expertise is vital in helping people understand what it is to live as well and as long as possible. In taking on this trekking challenge you’ll be fundraising to allow us to support cancer patients to regain control of their lives, to remember that they are more than their cancer diagnosis.
At Penny Brohn UK we support anyone affected by cancer. Our holistic approach to helping people live well with cancer - The Bristol Whole Life Approach - gives anyone affected by cancer the practical, emotional and social support they need to improve their quality of life and to manage the fear and uncertainty that a cancer diagnosis may bring. With your support we can provide more live changing support to people who need our help the most.
