Story
My daughters friend Libby Cotts (12) was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anaemia in October 2020. This is a very rare and serious condition.
Severe Aplastic Anaemia is basically bone marrow failure. Libby's cells were attacking the new ones so she had less that 10% bone marrow, the only cure being a bone marrow transplant.
The Anthony Nolan charity worked tirelessly to try to find a compatible donor for Libby. On 10th Feb 2021 it was confirmed that a donor had been found. Libby started chemotherapy and conditioning treatment immediately for her transplant which she had on 17th Feb. Libby spent 45 days in Great Ormond Street and is still currently self isolating at home until her immune system improves. Being amidst a pandemic this is an especially worrying time.
There are others suffering with this awful condition on a daily basis, who are becoming more ill, more symptomatic and more scared for their future. Anthony Nolan are continuing to help people, like Libby, find compatible donors.
Tanya & I are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Anthony Nolan.
Each testing swab kit costs £40 to process. Due to COVID many charities saw their fundraising disappear and left them with huge losses. The Anthony Nolan charity desperately need the backlog of 25,000 returned kits to be registered so that potential donors can be matched for those who are still waiting to be saved.
Your donations could help make a difference to many peoples lives. Please donate whatever you can. Every £1 makes a difference.

Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
