The triathlon involves swimming 300m, cycling 20k and running 5k. It’s a bit daunting for me.
I decided to do this for a cause very close to
my heart – the Neonatal Unit at West Suffolk Hospital. My son Frank had a very difficult start in
life. At two days old he was diagnosed
with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and had to be rushed to Addenbrookes
Hospital at two days old. He had lifesaving surgery at 4 days old. A week later he returned to West Suffolk Hospital
for the remainder of his treatment and recovery. Both
myself and my husband spent a lot of time on the unit whilst Frank was
recovering from his surgery and we saw how fantastic the unit is and how
dedicated the staff are. Frank is now a
very happy, healthy three year old boy. I wanted to give something back to say 'thank
you'.
