Story
At the age of 8, I remember supporting my mum as she ran her first marathon. Since then, she has completed over 36 marathons and 2 ultra marathons. I grew up watching her fall in love with the sport and support a multitude of charities over the years. Remarkably, she accomplished all of this while managing two autoimmune conditions and numerous other health concerns with endless grace. I am always in awe of her.
At 25, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with MS, a chronic disease of the central nervous system. Over the past three years, I've witnessed her navigate a rollercoaster of emotions, undergoing numerous trials of medications and treatments. Her strength and determination leave me in constant admiration.
That same year, my fiancé’s father was diagnosed with ALS/PLS, a neurological disorder affecting motor neurones. Although it remains a challenging diagnosis to live with, I’m moved by how he handles extremely difficult situations with such resilience and always, incredibly, a good sense of humour.
This October, I’m running my first half marathon. I’m honoured to be running with my mum by my side! We chose to run for MND to raise awareness around motor neurone diseases. To my mum, Riya, and HR; thank you for showing me what grace and determination look like in the face of extraordinarily difficult circumstances. I aspire to tackle life's challenges with even half the grace and strength I have witnessed in you.
I have set an ambitious fundraising goal, and with your support, I am confident we will achieve it. Please contribute what you can and share this page; it makes all the difference in the world. Thank you!
