Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

HD is a dreadful degenerative condition which sadly affects my family. It causes mental and physical decline over a period of 15 to 20 years.  In the case of my family it has also resulted in metal health issues for my late brother (paranoid schizophrenia) and depression for my sister.  There is at present no cure but there is hope as research is happening all over the world.  Each child of a parent with HD has a 50% chance of inheriting the faulty gene which causes the condition. This includes me.  But I have had a negative test!  So I won't develop HD.

SHA have specialist HD advisers who  support families like ours who are impacted by this awful condition.  In addition they have a youth service and a financial wellbeing service.  Please help me to support SHA to ensure that these services continue to be available to my family and the 1,000 other families in Scotland affected by HD.

And please join us on the Walk of Hope!  We need all the Hope we can get!
