Story

I know firsthand that when we help build the physical, intellectual, mental and spiritual wellbeing of each child, teen, family and senior adult, we advance the health of our entire community.

When I was a young single mother putting myself through college, I relied on programs and opportunities such as those provided in our community by the YMCA to provide safe, healthy developmental experiences for my first child. Throughout the years as our family grew, my husband and I, our four children and six grandchildren have benefited from water safety, swimming, camps, sports, fitness and community service programs at the various YMCAs where we have lived across the United States. Today, I am pleased to serve as vice chair of the Katy Area YMCAs Advisory Board where I can help support the health and wellbeing of other individuals and families and nurture collaborations that ensure our community is a great place for all people to live, work and thrive.

In 2022, our YMCA Annual Be the Change Campaign ensures that everyone has equal access to the resources and tools they need to thrive. In the growing Katy community and the broader Greater Houston area, YMCA wellness facilities, camp locations, and hundreds of program sites strive to empower youth, build healthier families and foster inclusive communities. These programs are driven by the Y mission of serving as a cause-driven organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

By giving a donation to the YMCA's annual fund-raising campaign, you join a group of people dedicated to the success and well-being of our community. Please join us in making an impact. The campaign is about more than just raising money. It is about the life-changing impact that the YMCA provides by opening doors to those in need.
