I got some advice in January about how to be successful in an ultra event... the advice was "sign-up to one and deal with the consequences".  So I did and I am.
Originally I intended to do this purely for my own pleasure (?!) but I recently realised that the ride coincides with the annual memorial walk for Tom Walker - the son of Tim and Debbie who are friends of mine and who sadly died suddenly and unexpectedly in June 2018 aged just 13.  Tim, Debbie, Tom's sisters Holly and Emily and friends have done an amazing job over the past 4 years raising money to fund a research post at Cardiff University.  This is focused on finding treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia.
I will be most grateful for any donations - thank you in advance.  Hopefully it will give me something else to reflect on during the estimated 24-30 hours of continuous peddling :-).
The ride starts at 06:00 on Saturday 25th June in Falmouth and, on it's way to the Admiralty in London, I will cover just over 500km (~310miles) with around 6,000m (~19,000ft) of ascent.  I will send out a Garmin LiveTrack link on the day so anyone who is interested can watch me in real time and see how I am getting on.  I've never done anything like this before so who knows how it's going to go!
